Who We Are

Established in 1994 through a partnership with Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS), Lad Lake Synergy School provides a comprehensive educational program for high school students who have been placed on Behavioral Reassignment or expelled through an MPS Central Services hearing. Our school provides students with the opportunity to continue their education, earn a high school diploma, and develop the academic, social, and emotional skills needed for success beyond graduation.

At Lad Lake, we believe every young person has the ability to learn, grow, and reach their potential when surrounded by caring adults who believe in them. Our educators create safe, structured, and engaging learning environments where students build confidence, strengthen their skills, and discover their ability to succeed.

We are seeking a compassionate, creative, and mission-driven High School English Language Arts Teacher who is passionate about helping students overcome barriers, develop their voice, and achieve their goals. If you believe relationships are the foundation of learning and are energized by making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people, we invite you to join our team.

  • Design meaningful lessons that are relevant, engaging, and responsive to the individual learning needs of students.
  • Differentiate instruction to support students with diverse academic abilities, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), behavioral needs, and learning challenges.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students through consistency, encouragement, accountability, and positive role modeling.
  • Support students in developing emotional regulation, problem-solving skills, self-advocacy, and other life skills that contribute to long-term success.
  • Collaborate with families, special education staff, therapists, administrators, and other support team members to support student achievement.
  • Monitor student progress, provide meaningful feedback, and adjust instruction to promote academic growth.
  • Maintain accurate lesson plans, student records, and required documentation.
  • Protect the privacy, safety, and dignity of every student by following confidentiality practices and organizational policies.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Valid Wisconsin teaching license (6-12 English Language Arts preferred).
  • Minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Experience working with students who have experienced academic, emotional, behavioral, or social challenges preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to create a structured classroom environment and effectively manage student behavior.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
  • Comfort using technology, including Microsoft Office and digital learning tools.
  • Patience, flexibility, resilience, and a trauma-informed approach when supporting students through challenges.
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive classroom environment that respects diverse cultures, backgrounds, and abilities.
  • Ability to be physically engaged with students and safely respond to student needs, including the ability to lift up to 30 pounds when necessary.

What We Bring to the Table (Full-Time Benefits)

  • Competitive pay based on education, licensure, experience, and Lad Lake years of service.
  • Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, and long-term disability benefits.

  • 401(k) plan with profit sharing opportunities to support your financial future.
  • Professional development opportunities with paid learning opportunities.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offering confidential personal and professional support.
  • Eligibility as a Federal Student Loan Forgiveness Employer.
  • The opportunity to be part of the oldest youth-serving organization in Wisconsin.
  • Career advancement opportunities — many of our team members have grown from entry-level roles into leadership positions, including teachers, supervisors, and administrators.
  • A leadership culture grounded in servanthood — our leaders are committed to supporting you so you can best support our youth.
